So, after some advice from friends about ink washes & how to mix paints, this is the final product. I guess I could try for something shinier on the body armor, but at this point, I'm happy with the way they came out, so will call it good.
Time to break out your super fine point brush and magnifier to get some of the small seams done with the dark wash color to pick out some of the articulation detail a bit where the seam was a bit to shallow to keep the wash from drifting south as it were.

These look great! Clean up your bases and you're golden. Are you photographing these with your scanner? I've never had much luck with that.
